When did you start modelling?

It’s difficult to say. When I was 12 I did some shoots for Kids Fashion. Then when I was 14 I started slowly.

Is there a story behind your name?

My mum discovered the name one night on our neighbour’s doorbell, and she really loved it. The meaning of my name is friendly and charming.

Favourite thing to do in Berlin in the summer?

My favourite thing to do in Berlin during the summer is celebrating and having fun with my friends at Open Airs. I love the music, the dancing, and the awesome atmosphere. I love all the smiling people around me.

Dream ice-cream flavour?

I don’t really know. I think there are already so many fantastic and crazy flavours. But I would like something with a fruity taste, and chocolate-chips.

Favourite thing in your whole apartment?

I’ve got so many things I love in my apartment. I like my bed a lot, and I don’t know anyone with a bed like mine.

What was your favourite piece of clothing as a child?

I had an amazing red jacket with a small Mickey Mouse logo. I still love it, even though I can’t wear it anymore. It is sooo cool.

What is the strangest or funniest thing that has ever happened to you?

Well there’s not only one situation, but when I was in the US four years ago, my mum and I drove from L.A. to Las Vegas and we made a stop at a diner in the desert. We ordered our food and an old man next to us started talking with us. It was really nice. After 5 minutes of talking to him he started to ask the same questions again and told us the same story. Five minutes later he started again and my mum and I were confused. In the end I think he told us his story five times and asked us the same questions. It was really funny and nice to talk to him. It was like in a movie or in a tv show with a hidden camera. And last year when I went back to Las Vegas we stopped at that diner and he was still alive, but we didn’t talk to him.

Questions from Emily

Favourite movie?

I don’t have one. There’s so many! :)

What does a perfect day in your life look like?

On a perfect day the weather is nice and I get to spend it with my friends. We’re really happy and just laughing all day long.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

My “guilty pleasure” is I love to take photos with funny and strange people around me and I love to eat Streuselschnecken.

Which supernatural powers would you like to possess?

I’d love to be able to quickly beam myself and my friends to all different kinds of places all over the world.

Blandina was photographed and interviewed in April 2013.
